Fiscal Year 2026 Presidential Budget Request
May 30, 2025
Our nation's federal appropriations process begins every year with the President of the United States sending a budget request to Congress. This budget request is a proposal only, and does not automatically become law once published because Congress is the only branch of the federal government with the power to appropriate funds. Instead, the President's Budget Request (PBR) serves only to establish the Administration's priorities and ideals for the upcoming fiscal year. The following analysis from the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) provides greater detail on President Trump's proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year: APLU ANALYSIS OF THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S FY2026 BUDGET REQUEST
